Summer learning journey – task 47 – kickstart

Hello bloggers,

Welcome back to another summer learning journey task. For this task we had to draw a kowhai tree! I also coloured it on. My inspiration was from google so yeah. Here is my drawing.

  1. Kia ora Neha,

Simon here again from the Summer Learning Journey team. This is a beautiful drawing of a kōwhai. I can tell you have put a lot of time and effort into this drawing. I’ve always liked kōwhai trees. The yellow flowers with the small green leaves are very pretty. Do you have a favourite New Zealand native flower? Mine is pōhutukawa, because when I see them they remind me of summer time.

  2. Kia ora Neha,
You did a great job on your drawing – you nailed the leaf shape! Aren’t kōwhai trees amazing! I love how there are so many types that means we get to see the flowers for ages.
Did you know that the long part that pokes out of the bottom of the flower is called the stamen, and the round bit on the end of the stamen is the anther where the pollen is made? Maybe you could add these to your drawing too?
